Waste Management and Recycling
Waste and recycling services
At OCS we are fully committed to building a sustainable business for tomorrow by reducing the environmental impact of our own and our clients’ operations.
Working in partnership with our clients, we are able to develop initiatives to divert waste from landfill, cut paper use and promote recycling schemes.
OCS Wasteline works in partnership with its clients to increase recycling with the aim of achieving zero to landfill. Our clients have peace of mind that OCS Wasteline has vetted and approved all its waste contractors and provides all the necessary paperwork to achieve a legally compliant waste solution.
OCS, in partnership with a major client, won the National Champion for Wales’s award at the Green Apple Environmental ceremony with a project that diverts 100% of waste collected away from landfill. A newly built Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) enables recyclable materials collected to be sorted into different types.
OCS, working with the NEC, have introduced a number of successful projects to minimise waste and increase recycling and enabled the venue to reach its “Zero Waste to Landfill’ target two years ahead of schedule.
Future developments include a waste pre-treatment centre, (certificated by the ISO 14001 standard in 2013), and building an on-site biomass plant that is set to make the NEC venue energy self-sufficient. The team won the event industry’s AEO Excellence Award for Sustainability in 2010 and 2013.
With Envirocomp we can offer our clients the world’s first environmentally friendly solution for nappy, sanitary and incontinence waste. Washroom waste is collected from commercial premises and delivered to the Envirocomp plant where it is combined with green waste and turned into compost. Our Rochester plant is contributing to reducing landfill by currently composting up to 6.8 million items per year.
