OCS wins security contract at Birmingham Children’s Hospital

18th Nov 2013

International total facilities management provider OCS has won a three-year contract to provide security and car park services to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, a specialist paediatric hospital and one of the UK’s leading paediatric teaching centres. It is a high profile site, often visited by government ministers and celebrities.

The contract, which began on 1st November 2013, will run for three years plus an extension option. It will see the OCS security team provide a presence in and around the hospital and deal with anything from deterring criminal activity through to customer service. Car park management will form a large part of the role.

A team of security staff will be transferred under TUPE from the outgoing contractor to OCS to work alongside the OCS security management team, the mobile supervision team and an additional OCS security officer.

Jane Sheard, UK Managing Director of Facilities Services at OCS, said: “The OCS team is dedicated to providing a high quality service and a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and staff. Our continued focus is on the development of our highly trained staff and on providing a pro-active, innovative service in partnership with the hospital’s facilities team.”

The contract procurement process was managed by HealthTrust Europe, a group purchasing organisation used by various hospital trusts. Under the same framework, OCS was awarded the security contract for Sandwell PCT last year.

OCS has existing contracts with the children’s hospitals Great Ormond Street and Alder Hey.
