International total facilities management provider OCS has won four awards at the cleaning industry’s prestigious Kimberly-Clark Golden Service Awards 2013 held at the Lancaster London hotel on Friday, 1st November.
The awards, organised in partnership with the Cleaning & Support Services Association (CSSA), recognise service excellence and provide a benchmark for quality and a means of identifying organisations as leaders in the field.
Peter Goodliffe, Business Improvement Director at OCS, said: “The Golden Service Awards are the Oscars of the cleaning industry and to win in four categories is quite an achievement. We were delighted to win more awards than any of our peers.”
Goodliffe added: “This is a wonderful endorsement of our cleaning service provision and is testament to our excellent, innovative standards across a range of market sectors. Our staff are very proud of their success, and rightly so.”
OCS’s winning categories were:
Best Cleaned Premises – Manufacturing (for Mercedes, Brixworth)
Mercedes-Benz High Performance Engines (MBAMG) manufactures engines for the Mercedes GP, Vodafone McLaren Mercedes, and Force India Formula 1 teams. Bolts, screws and pistons are individually made from incredibly expensive materials, which, if they fail to meet precise tolerances, are removed from the production line. The business requires a level of precision within their cleaning operation that matches the quality of their engines. All the engines are manufactured and assembled in laboratory conditions, and OCS’s role is to ensure that the cleaning service supports this sensitive environment.
Best Cleaned Premises – Office Areas Below 250,000 sq ft (for BUPA, Staines)
OCS supplies soft FM integrated services at Willow House, which is predominantly a call centre and accommodates around 1,000 staff. A key aspect of the contract is the good working relationship with the onsite facilities team. Two-way communication enables OCS to resolve issues quickly and effectively to further boost client satisfaction.
Best Cleaned Premises – Hospitality and Service Delivery Innovation of the Year (both for the NEC, Birmingham)
OCS delivers cleaning and waste services as part of the soft services contract and has completely remodelled the cleaning solution, with modern systems, equipment and machinery now being used. New and innovative ways of working were adopted from day one, together with a refreshed attitude to the service. The contract has seen lots of innovations including an OCS 'Academy' which has been established on the NEC complex, providing a wide range of HR, learning and development opportunities for staff. Already over 650 OCS employees from the cleaning and security staff have signed up for NVQ training.
