Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust Appoints OCS Group for soft FM services

3rd Aug 2012

Following a highly competitive tender process involving a number of bidders, Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust (LCFT) has appointed OCS as its outsourced soft FM provider.

The £15m, five-year contract will see OCS deliver catering, cleaning, portering, helpdesk and waste management across the Trust’s estate which spans Lancashire County’s 1,118 square miles.

LCFT provides mental health and community services across the whole of Lancashire, serving a population of around 1.5 million people. Premises included within the contract are Ridge Lea, Daisyfield Mill, Charnley Fold, Scarisbrick and Bickerstaffe House in Ormskirk, in addition to Trust operated facilities on Burnley, Blackpool, Chorley and Blackburn acute hospital campuses.

The portfolio of soft FM services will be provided to all LCFT facilities with the exception of the Trust’s secure units that will continue to deliver soft FM services in-house.

“OCS is absolutely delighted to have secured such a prestigious contract with one of the countries most dynamic and forward thinking Foundation Trusts. This award is a perfect strategic fit with our medium and long term development objectives. We very much look forward to working with our new colleagues and to implementing the service improvements and innovations included within our proposal which will enhance the patients Hotel Services Experience” Mark Coppard, Director, OCS Healthcare.

The overall management of Hard and Soft FM service providers will eventually transfer from LCFT into Red Rose Corporate Services LLP (RRCS). RRCS is an independent company set up in what is England’s first whole estates joint venture partnership (JVP) in the NHS. The JVP is equally owned by healthcare expert Ryhurst and LCFT. RRCS is charged with the delivery of high quality, modern operational estates management services.

“In OCS Healthcare we have appointed a first class service provider who shares our vision of putting the service user at the heart of everything we do.  The dialogue and working relations to date have been extremely positive and I am sure that future relations will be built on partnering foundations to both organisations mutual benefit.” Steve Jameson, Property Services Director, Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust.
