International total facilities management provider OCS has been awarded the contract to provide security services across six properties for Sandwell Primary Care Trust. The trust is now part of the Black Country Cluster, bringing together four Primary Care Trusts – NHS Dudley, NHS Walsall, Wolverhampton City PCT and Sandwell.
The two-year contract, with a one-year extension option, is for manned guarding services but the two organisations are already in discussion about additional opportunities including keyholding and alarm response services, security systems and car park management. Ten staff will transfer from two incumbent providers to OCS under the contract.
OCS was invited to tender for the contract after being awarded Framework Agreement status with HealthTrust Europe, which procures contracts on behalf of the NHS. The company beat off competition from three other service providers to win the deal.
