Fountains, part of total facilities management provider OCS Group UK, has been awarded over £1m of work with National Grid to paint electricity towers in Wales.
The work, which was won under the Provision of Tower Painting and Maintenance Services framework agreement, is part of a wider major refurbishment project of the Swansea to Pembroke 400 kV overhead line. Due to atmospheric corrosion the 85km route is having a substantial amount of steelwork replaced as part of the refurbishment project. Fountains will be painting over 80 towers on the line.
This most recent award brings to 292,093m2 of tower steelwork painted by Fountains for National Grid this year under the framework agreement.
Fountains have also recently completed a contract to paint a communications mast at a North Wales headquarters.
Martin Gammon, Managing Director for OCS Group UK & Europe, said: “Our tower painting work with National Grid demonstrates the breadth of our facilities management capability. We are delighted to have extended our relationship with National Grid and pleased to be such an important partner for them.”
